BCT GmbH, a system supplier founded in 1986 specialising in solutions for in-process scanning and adaptive machining. We, engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians and application specialists take care about all phases of projects from consulting over development up to after-sales services.

The focus is on solutions for the automated machining of individually shaped workpieces, captured using process integrated measuring technologies. Bespoke adaptation algorithms compensate for imprecise part positions as well as shape deviations caused by wear or damage.

All functions are integrated into a unique software connected to sensors and machines, capable handling the entire process chain automatically.

Based on their expertise in the field of in-process measuring and adaptation BCT was involved in WPs 3 and 5, developing scan capabilities to be used inside the LMD equipment while running the LMD process. In cooperation with the University of Birmingham, BCT developed a solution to adjust LMD parameters based on a previous measurement of the build. Laser line scanning systems have been integrated into machines at the University of Birmingham and TRUMPF.

As the leader of WP4, BCT was the first contact for the members in the WP and represented the WP in all meetings. The concept of adaptation was integrated into the post-processing chain required to finalise AM made parts. The objective is to reduce the effort required for fixture making and to increase precision utilising process integrated measuring. Again, these capabilities have been used to capture the part positions and to generate the corresponding adjusted NC-programs.
